North Soccer Club is affiliated with Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS), a competitive league in which teams from other towns compete against each other on weekends.  Opponents are typically located within 45 minutes of North Attleboro, ideally closer for the youngest age groups.

The BAYS Travel Program has a fall season which includes U9-U14 players (generally 3rd grade thru 8th grade) and a spring season for U9-U18 players.

NSC places children on our teams according to player age & ability and submit team placement requests to BAYS.  The BAYS Board makes the final decision for placement of our teams in Divisions & Sections with teams of roughly equal ability. Each BAYS age group may have up to 5 Divisions, with Divisions 1 and 2 being the most competitive. The Divisions are further divided into Sections comprising 4 to 6 teams who play each other during the season.

U9 and U10 play 6v6 on smaller fields (ideally 40 yds. X 60 yds.) with downsized goals (6x12). Teams playing 6v6 will have about 8-11 players per team. U11 and U12 play 8v8 on larger (50x70) fields with larger goals (approx. 7x21).  Teams playing 8v8 will have about 11-14 players per team.  U14 and higher play 11v11 and usually have 14-18 (sometimes higher in the fall) players on a team. The fall and spring seasons last for 10 weeks, with 5 away games and 5 home games.  Practices typically begin at least two weeks before the first game.

NOTE:  In 2015 US Soccer made changes to age groups, team sizes and field sizes in order to align with the international model.  NSC will comply with these changes when we are required to do so by BAYS and/or MYSA (Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association):  http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/massachusetts_youth_soccers_statement_on_us_soccer_birth_year_mandate/

Practices

Professional Coaching for U9 –U12 Players:  Beginning in the spring of 2016 we are excited to be partnering with the New England Revolution Youth Academy.  We are confident that this partnership with local professional coaches will improve our program in two ways:  both coach and player development.

  • U9-U12:  One New England Revolution Youth Academy led practice (Fixed day, at least 8 weeks).  One NSC led practice (Fixed day, at least 8 weeks)

  • U13-U14:  Two NSC led practices (Fixed day, at least 8 weeks).  NSC will look to offer some skills clinics run by the New England Revolution Youth Academy coaches especially for our U13-U14 age group.

BAYS Matches

Both the fall and spring seasons are comprised of 10 matches.  They typically played on Saturdays but potential make-up games may be played on Sundays or week nights.

All players should arrive at each session or match with:

  • Red shirt - for practices

  • NSC uniform - for matches

  • Soccer cleats

  • Shin guards

  • Size 4 ball (U9-U12)  /  Size 5 ball (U13-U14)

  • Plenty of water.

Evaluations for Team Placements (Evaluations for both fall & winter are held in June!)

Please note that anyone that only plays winter is expected to attend Evaluations held in mid-June. Information will be posted as soon as details are confirmed.

We have traditionally held Evaluations in January for the spring season.  We are currently reviewing this format and may move to a “one try-out per year” policy.  We will send out a notice of any changes via e-mail, social media and this site.

Why does the Travel Program ask you to register so early?

Registration for North Soccer Club is actually later than in the majority of towns in Bays.

For more information please contact us.

Refund Policy

No refunds once Evaluations have begun.  There may be special exceptions (such as an unexpected medical condition) that could be considered by the Board.

Coaching

We ask that if you are interested in coaching please check the box as such when registering your child. We use this to run a report of potential coaches after teams are formed.  We strongly encourage all of our coaching volunteers to pursue certification via NSCAA and/or USSF coaching courses:
